Paper Custodian Builds Pharaoh Thoth Amon (Scott Schaller)

Today on the Paper Custodians workbench...

We have a papertoy from artist

Scott Schaller

We're building the
Pharaoh Thoth Amon

Out of the book
If you haven't picked up your copy yet,
What's stopping you?
Let's get this party Started, right?
Pull out the perforated pages from the book
and start separating the individual parts from the sheet.
Remember: Bend then separate, or there is a chance it won't
tear cleanly.

See what I mean?
I ripped a piece in my haste to free ol' Bubba Hotep.
Haste makes waste, they say.

Man, I done it again!
Missing some finger tips, now.
Some days, I plain miss the feel of
a steel blade in my hands.

Caution with this part.
The tabs are very delicate around the semi-circles
at the end of the coffin lid.

And we finally get all the parts punched out
and ready for folding and gluing.

There's no scoring involved here,
because it comes scored already.
Simply pre-fold and prepare the glue.

Don't forget to round off the lid
before you start gluing to help it
shape the ends better.
Don't forget to follow the numbers
on the tabs for an easy papercrafting
experience.

When you're finished,
you should have a nice
little sarcofigus to throw
all them ol' bones out.

Next, we start on Pharaoh.
The head is a simple cube.
Shouldn't give you much trouble.
The body, is a tube.
Roll it and then glue
the tab in place to make it easier.
Then, you'll connect the tabs on the body
to the slots on the head.
Use our ol' friend X-acto
to open up the slots first.

To make sure the head stays in place,
just dab some glue around it, like so.

Glue the arms and the legs
to the space specified
and we are finished.
Well, almost...

Don't forget to put
the Pharaoh to bed.
G'night king!

Hahaha,
Oh, Thoth!
